Remember when I told you that I moved back into my small apartment? It’s really sort of like a mother-in-law apartment that is connected to the house. I decided to rent out the living room. The bathroom is in the main house for that person and I have the apartment bedroom, a small hall way, the kitchen and the bathroom. I never actually used the living room anyway. I had a door from somewhere, maybe a bedroom closet?, that I installed right onto the end of the hallway where the living room starts, and I put a padlock onto that on their side and I have the key, so I can’t unlock it and they can’t get in here. I didn’t want an official roommate because I couldn’t just choose any random person. This way, anyone can be there because I dont actually live with that person. The carport is on that side for that person. I have a back door that goes into my back yard that goes into my alley. I park my truck in the front but I only have to walk a block to get there and I need the exercise! So if you need more money just rent your living room out! And if you don’t have a back door…you could use a jig saw to cut one out of the side of the house, maybe where you have a back porch area. I read that for fire code safety you don’t have to officially give anyone access to your back yard. All you have to have is one entrance and a window to the outside!
