I have never really liked hummus made at home but it is really expensive at the store and I had a can of chick peas. it turned out really nice!
Hummus
one 15 oz (ounces) can of chick peas or garbanzo beans (same thing)
3/4 of a 13 oz can of artichoke hearts or whole, whatever is available
1/8 tsp -1/4 tsp oil, I used avacado oil, but it does not matter.
3/4 cup of fresh or freshly frozen spinach.
1/8 tsp lemon juice
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tsp minced garlic, I like buying the minced in a jar! so nice!
2 tbs of nutritional yeast (optional)
you might need a little water to make it easier to blend in a food processor or blender. it does not have to be a special kind
blend until smooth.
for hummus the main things are the chick peas and the oil and maybe some salt. you do not have to have any of the rest of these spices. Hummus is nice to put into a tupperware and bring with you during the day. you can use crackers or chips or pita bread from the store, or just eating it plain is fine too.
there are hundreds of recipes online for hummus with different configurations of vegetables and spices!
you can use fresh vegetables but by the time I decided to revisit the ideas of hummus then the fresh vegetables are old, so I like frozen or canned so I can put it all away, it will still be there in a month and it is not ruined! and so I never failed the whole world with that.
Bread
I have a few recipes for bread on this blog. There is not an option of organizing anything into sections on wordpress, unfortunetely but there might be a search option that you can just type in the word ‘recipe’ and it should come up with all of my posts that have that word in it.
1 cup all purpose flour
3 tbs sourdough starter
1/8 cup coconut flour
4 tbs pecan flour
3 tbs of super seeds (blend of chia seeds, flaxseed meal, and hempseeds)
1/8 cup vegetable oil. you can use any oil that you would like to use.
