Happy Valentine’s Day by Margaret Leora Workman; Warponie Art

Cardboard Valentine’s Day gift tags or whatever. these are 2.75 by 2.5 inches. I have a couple of small boxes of these that I used a paper cutter to cut. I mistakenly thought that I could use them for paper again. Then I bought another one for paper but that one had nicks in the actual blade from the store so you can only use these where the sharpness is I guess. I bought a knife sharpening pumice stone thinking that could save the day. No, and I won’t explain any more about it. So any way…these are fun, sort of farmhouse-y. First take school glue and add any color of craft paint to that, but no water! It will destroy the cardboard. It will make the paint into a see-through glaze. If you use wood instead you can add water to that. I used some of those stamps that are really small that may not get normally used and I painted them with black craft paint, then stamp the actual cardboard. Or if you are worried about mess-ups, stamp a piece of paper and then cut that little thingy-ma-jig out and glue it into the cardboard cut out square. Don’t forget to write ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ on that in pencil and then re-write over it in the ultra fine point sharpie. If you don’t really like the brown just paint the other side. And use a hole punch for the string. I can’t find mine. What would be fun:

I remember my mother had several small table Christmas trees and she would put small ornaments in those. For Valentine’s Day you could spray paint one of those Christmas trees red or white, then make these cardboard decorations and hang them on the tree. Then put it on your mantle or as a table center piece on the table runner, or several. really fun project for a Valentine’s Day party.

If you do this and it looks like a large glob of paint, just use craft paint to paint over the whole thing, then use a lighter color to redo the stamp or just use the copy paper to cover over it and stamp that instead, before gluing the image into it.
