So I looked up the idea of ‘defunding the police’ on the internet to see what that really means and if it has already happened somewhere. It is actually a really good idea in theory. The political ads make it sound really bad! But the money that you normally would have paid to the city police actually go to social programs. That is what is supposed to happen. And who wants a whole bunch of police making things look really bad in one area? Then people will read that more police were added to that city and they will not want to move there. They will automatically think that the crime rate has risen. So adding money to social programs is way better. Like sports, recreation, more help for the elderly in that community, school programs, summer programs. These programs would be funded by the state instead of church so everyone would be included. These kids and the elderly need social programs to go about their daily lives with more confidence. I am totally for defunding the police. They can get jobs elsewhere that are still within the community. These social programs will be better for the parents as well and better for the community as a whole. The kids will be able to interact with their peers in the summer so that school isn’t so scary during the school year. Small towns really need this whole idea to be more recognized and available. BTW, I approve of these messages…
