The trick to keeping the loop findings round, is to use two of these at the same time to close them. One for each side of the loop. Also pull them apart like you are opening a gate, twist them apart, and then twist them back closed. Do not squeeze them together with only one of these pliers, they will become ovals, they have to stay round.

Just buy the coils of wrap bracelet wire, a findings kit and some beads. I like the beads that look like rocks instead of the perfectly round ones as those are more expensive. The kits sometimes have earrings included.
