When I was in highschool I transferred to another high school. I found out that my high school classes were credit based just like college, meaning that in order to graduate high school you have to have a certain number of credits. Each class is a certain number of credits just like college. So when I transferred to another high school they somehow required less credits if I am remembering correctly. Because of that, I was able to graduate highschool in January instead of waiting. Also the new high school only required for some people to go half days, which in my opinion, just prolongs everything. I did not like my new high school! I wanted to be done so I added up my credits that I already took and went whole days instead of half and was able to graduate early. I still walked and that was the important part for the parent video. Who cares how you get there! I wanted to mention this because, until I transferred, I didn’t know! that high schools base being able to graduate on number of credits! If you have done any online highschool that is connected through a highschool in your state these classes have credits as well that count towards being able to graduate. You have to do the homework and turn it in from home. Also, if you can graduate early but you didn’t do well in one of your previous classes, ask the principal to retake the class. The principal has to have a college degree and will value that. The people in the office don’t have to have a degree to have their jobs so don’t ask them! They are usually grouchy and will say no to everything. So try and catch the principal in the hall, to make an official appointment for that permission. Don’t even bring the people in the office an Apple because they are not teachers! Anyway, college is a must right? So getting a better grade will give you that one point on your gpa in order to get into the college that you wanted. But the community college is cheaper…and NOT going to a university right away is just fine. I finally went to a university at 24. I went full time and pretty much lived there because that’s where I wanted to be. I lived off campus and not in the dorms because I was too old, but that’s ok! I wanted to have the experience of going to a university no matter how old I was so I didn’t go to my death bed without that accomplishment. Some people do not have that opinion and do not care and that’s ok too!

Just Google “online high school programs” it is supposed to be free because it’s through the state that you are in and connected to your highschool and approved by the department of education. Some might cost if they are more private but you might like those better but just talk to them about how they will give you a HIGHSCHOOL TRANSCRIPT. You have to have that for college. This situation does not fall under homeschooling. This is doing public school at home and online. Homeschooling is not connected to a public or private school but totally legal and awesome. Google hslda.org for information about homeschooling in your state and they will help with info on getting a high school transcript for you. FYI if you start homeschooling you have to let the school district in your area that you are. No matter if you pulled them out of school or if you never put them into school in the first place. Each state is different but usually extremely easy to do. Some are online, they just have a small form to fill out, send that and then they send you confirmation of that approval. Each state is different so the hslda.org will have that info for each state, along with immunization info for the state that you are in such as which exemptions your state accepts. If you don’t know what curriculum then just google the school district that you are in and they have information about what each grade level requires to be able to move on to the next grade level. Some states require testing along the way and some don’t. In my opinion that is really good but also can be difficult to set up. The testing that is used is the California achievement and, I believe, two other standardized state tests. One of them does not have to be administered by an actual teacher. If you join a homeschooling co-op in your area, many of them will have a bunch of information for you if you are in one of those states. It’s worth the money to join a homeschooling co-op.
