Do you know how to use a ceiling fan? Some of them have a light kit installed on the bottom and some do not. First turn on the light switch in the room to provide power to the fan. It might turn on, the light might not, but the fan may turn on or vice versa, or it might not turn on at all even after you turn on the light switch. Next look at the fan itself. There will usually be a pull string for fan blades, a pull string for the actual lights and then there is a switch that is small that usually is located on the barrel of the fan. that switch will make the fan blades turn clockwise or counterclockwise. Make sure the fan is totally off before you move that switch or you will burn out the motor or you will get hit in the head from the moving blades. Next, after you have turned on the light switch pull one of the pull strings. That pull string that you chose will turn on the fan blades or the light located on the fan. then pull the other one and that will turn on whatever isn’t on yet. This allows you to have just the fan on without the light. The pull string for the fan blades might have different settings; low speed, medium speed, high speed. Then pull it again and the fan blades will stop running. Then pull it again to het the fan blades running again to get the correct speed that you want for the fan blades. If you do not want power to go to the fan just turn off the light switch of the room. If you find that the light switch is on but the fan is off, then just pull the pull strings to get the light or the fan blades to turn on. The reason why is because the ceiling fan is wired to the ceiling electricity just like a regular light is. You have the 3 wires. Some people actually know what they are called but it’s usually hot, neutral and ground. (Something like that) Sometimes if your ceiling fan does not have a light on the bottom you can buy a separate light kit to install on the bottom. It attaches to the bottom of the barrel using wires. Remember to shut off the breaker and install it during the day so that you can open the curtains to get your light in order to see.
