A couple of years ago I looked up this blackbird with spots that was nesting pretty much in my yard on the internet and it said it was a speckled blackbird. Now, the internet wants to call it a common starling. One entry said that common starlings are sometimes called speckled blackbirds but only at certain times of the year. Then one entry made it sound like speckled blackbirds don’t exist. This is the name that the internet had for this bird for around two years. What has changed???
This situation is somewhat bothering me. This is one of my favorite birds! I remember never really seeing these, and then three to four years ago one nested in the top of my neighbors really tall shop. I know I said it was pretty much in my yard, but who is measuring or counting?? I am the one who cares! They are never home and don’t enjoy anything from nature, honestly. So anyways, now what?? Oh right! Now I see them everywhere! When I walk my dogs I see these birds and yellow chats! this bird was in my yard yesterday. I was worried that it was injured as it let me get extremely close to it, but it flew up into my tree.
