I had to build this frame that came off of the step because I wanted the door to sit on one of the studs that was attached to the house. I did not screw it into the cement but attached it in all other ways . I did all of it with a jigsaw
Here is the screw that I used to screw the wall into the concrete. For some reason I could only get the pilot hole down halfway. Since the screw was so long and there are two I figured that it was ok.
I was able to cut this screw off with a jigsaw with the blade made for metal
I used some of the insulation that came in the fridge box as well as the silver kind. It seems like it could be more non toxic than others

So I have been doing some home improvements kind of. I am trying to move more out of my house into a bedroom with a large closet, a small closet , a closet for the washer/dryer and the back porch that I made into a greenhouse. I rent out the two bedrooms in my house so I wanted to live more separately from them. Everything is quite messy! I found a 3 pronged plug that still works so I bought an apartment sized stove and a small refrigerator. I assumed that the fridge was white! So I ordered a white stove! But when I took it out of the box it is stainless steel and black! I wasn’t going to mention on my own blog how snooty I am. And I always hate when people announce how pretentious they are without realizing it. But since I am telling you I do not think that even counts! But I did see that there is a white tag for the brand name on the front of the fridge so at least that matches. Every morning I was going to wake up and see how I failed this whole situation but now it’s better. So I built a frame for the glass door that faces the outside and it’s pretty sturdy. I had to build it because it wasn’t there. Then I had to tear down half the wall that I had built to make a closet for my room in order to install the white door with glass windows. That one was heavier than the other one! I put a large gate latch on that because that is all I had. I had bought it for the gate outside but I never installed it. One of The closets had the oldest drywall paper that I have ever seen! So I layered it with sheet metal. I call it that but it’s actually metal roofing material just so it’s fireproof now! That is where the book shelf is with the pink flowered fabric is. I ruffled it and stapled it on there. Did you know that if you have some old weatherstripping that does not stick you can use hot glue. It turned to hard rubber and you can just peel it off with a butter knife if you have to get new weatherstripping. And if you ever want to find out how to make a door frame just YouTube it! There are pre-hung door with the frame or the other hollow core doors or slab doors without the frame. They are cheaper. I have never used the pre-hung doors but maybe they are easy to use. If you ever have to cut a hollow core door I would not suggest it! I had to, to get one to fit length wise. I thought it would fit but I had only measured the width! So I cut it with a jig saw and it really is hollow inside. I think it’s about 2 inches around the door that has the pressed wood to make it solid. That is why it’s so easy to put holes in them!

Ps: I did all of this with a jigsaw!

I finally got the new stove for this space! I would live to have a beautiful ‘reveal’ for you but haven’t had time to make it cute yet. That yellow thing is a sunshade because I haven’t added weatherstripping yet. I had to muscle the stove in myself but I got it done only to find out that the 3 pronged outlet did not fit the 3 pronged cord that I ordered. Who knew? It’s a really old house. So I had to get a new outlet and a cord to match. I got a 4 pronged outlet and switched it out. Thank goodness for YouTube! I was able to a switch it out successfully as well as install the new 4 pronged cord onto the stove. I bought a multi tester (or whatever it’s called) to test to make sure the outlet was installed properly. I didn’t want to short out the stove. All three of the wires of the outlet were black so I had to figure out the neutral was on the old notched prong hole of the old outlet. If you ever do this your self make sure the breaker for the whole house is turned off in case it’s labeled wrongly from a previous homeowner who thinks it’s funny to write craziness on those panels. It looked like a guy’s handwriting; messy and unreadable.

I have gotten some of it done.

I’m so happy to read this. This is the kind of manual that needs to be given and not the accidental misinformation that’s at the other blogs. Appreciate your sharing this greatest doc.
