One day I and a friend, well my friend found them first, found a group of baby mice hiding under a board in the center of my yard. There were 4 of them and they were the cutest little animals that I have ever seen. I tried to find out what type of mice they were and I think that they were deer mice because the shape of their bodies, and where the tale was sitting on them looked more like a deer mouse than a house mouse, and they were brown and not gray. Every day I watered around the board and tried to find worms in the yard for them. Eventually there were two left. At that time I moved the board to a place at near my fence because I assumed they would be more protected there. They ran through the yard and huddled, but each in a different place. I took a can and went to each one and lowered it to them and each one just jumped right in the can!! I could not believe it and I am not telling you a story this time. I moved the first one to the new den that I had covered with tree branches and some poly-carbonate sheeting that I had a couple of sheets of to keep them warm. The first one jumped right out of the den and went somewhere else but the second one stayed there for many days. He/she was there each morning when I went to visit it and I could tell that it was making tunnels in the dirt. I did not want to make it a pet because I wanted it to survive and be happy outside. I noticed that it was getting bigger and I piled some bird seed in there and found some roly-polies in the yard and I would water it each morning and night. It is turning winter here so I stopped watering the den after a while in hopes that it would find maybe a better place for the winter. Then one day I was sitting on my bed and saw a mouse coming out of one of the burners on my stove and it looked exactly like the little deer mouse that had been in my yard. It started eating some remnants of some tater tots that I had eaten that were left on the stove tin foil. I put another frozen tater tot there in case it is that mouse. If you look at one of the other posts that I have I put several videos on there of the mouse that likes tater tots, and that is him/her. I had planted some of those same seeds that I had given him in a pot inside and I think I saw him or a couple of other mice eating those seeds. I bought some flowers today and brought them home and a few hours later I see that something has eaten the petals and I am not sure what but maybe my little mouse ate them. I know that mice carry diseases but they are so adorable!
