If you are multiplying 5 x 5

You can think of it instead as: 5 groups of 5

Let’s say you are multiplying 13 x 2

You can think of it as:

13 groups of 2 or 2 groups of 13

Then add all of the groups together and that is the answer

13 + 13 = 26 (2 groups of 13)

2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2=26 (13 groups of 2)
