Mattie Marshall Art, Valentine’s Day art! by Margaret Leora Workman; Warponie Art

I originally wanted to make some of that really cute pine cone art. They make pinecones into flowers and paint them, adorable! You can find it on Pinterest. But I do not have any pine cones and I would have to buy them, and what if they are not the right size? So I decided to use these flowers that I made out of glue and water and old fabric scraps and paper. Just put that into a flower mold and let it dry. I took an old picture that I bought at a thrift store. I left it intact and taped copy paper on top of the glass. I also painted the frame black with craft paint. If the frame is very slick then add some glue to the paint and that will help the paint to adhere to it, or you can use latex paint with primer added in and that will help, or officially prime it first and then paint it with craft paint or other latex paint. Then I hot glued the burlap on top of that. Then I hot glued everything else onto the burlap and painted the flower tops. The middle of the flowers are from tree limbs that I had cut down from over grown trees in my yard. I used either a jigsaw or a sawzall. I wanted it to be more modern, and less farmhouse, so I used black. I guess it’s farmhouse-modern. In my opinion it wouldn’t be shabby chic because this has way too much brown. If I were to paint the burlap then I could think that it might be shabby chic. This is only my opinion. Maybe a light coat of pink or something over the top without soaking it through, or soaking it with paint, water and glue to make it hard would be fun.
